Jersey Textile Showcase 2008

<br />

In the midst of celebrating its 10th birthday, Art in the Frame Foundation are playing host again to the Jersey Textile Showcase 2008. After a successful 4 years of running, this year is set to be bigger and better than ever. Created in response to the strong art textile education that the Island has to offer and also the huge amount of interest art textiles generate, the textile showcase reflects the huge up and coming textile art.

Daytime and evening events will be taking place centred at The Harbour Gallery in St Aubins ? a beautiful setting  for this occasion. The showcase not only brings many highly respected tutors and exhibitors to the island to run 10 workshops a day but encourages many visitors to the island, and is now a major event on the calender.   The workshops vary from Ruth Lee with her Big Knitting and Wire Knitting workshops to Inna Stavostenk from the Ukraine , who will be demonstrating her folk textile craft with a contemporary look. With Demonstrations by Crazy Wire, Simply Sequins and Jennifer Gail, it?s something that everyone can really get involved in.

The many exhibitions include the Diversity Group, an exciting new textile group  comprising of art and textile teachers from the island and Start to Finish, an exhibition of school art textiles, from Primary through to A-level. Also the work of 12 local  textile artists will be exhibited including Naomi Renouf, Christine Witham, Lisa Macdonald, Pam Kubas, BiancaAcronzio Padidar, Rosemary Blackmore, Claire Fox, Adele Denton, Nienke Bakker, Sarah Jordan, Kalina Le Marquand and Suki Cartwright. There are 6 exhibitions to view in and around The Harbour Gallery and St Aubin, and entry is free to all wishing to view them.
