This October we’ll see the second Jersey TechAwards hit the Royal Yacht, celebrating those that are trying to push Jersey’s tech industry forward. Digital Jersey are promising a bigger event, with more awards and more attendees, hoping to increase the number of entries from last year’s 76.
These days we there are concerns over our privacy in the headlines every day; China supposedly listening to your device, social networks selling your soul and phishers trying to get your credentials left, right and centre. The work of those in Jersey’s tech sector who keep businesses and individuals ‘safe in the face of increasing online threats’ are therefore to be celebrated with the Security Implementation of the Year Award, one of two new additions this year, alongside an extra Technology Student of the Year prize – meaning both under 16s and over 16s will be in the running for top honours. A total of 12 awards will be presented on the night.
Here are what those involved had to say;
Tony Moretta, CEO of Digital Jersey, said: “The inaugural Jersey TechAwards were one
of the standout highlights of last year for me. It was a rare moment for all those working
in the sector to stop and truly take stock of the great work that’s happening in the
island. The addition of two new awards for this year means we can showcase the groundbreaking efforts being made to put information security high on the agenda. And, in the year we open our new Digital Skills Academy, I am delighted we have two chances to highlight the work of technology students – our next-generation workforce.”
Chris Clark, the CEO of Prosperity 24/7 who are sponsoring the event, said: “We are honoured to once more support the TechAwards. Last year’s event was a true celebration of the thriving digital sector, an evening of reflection, reward and acknowledgement for every key player in the critical Industry which is pervasive across all other sectors today. To be able to sponsor this celebration, as a locally grown yet Internationally known business, is the least that we can do to help to raise the profile of great minds both locally and beyond our shores.”
