A brilliant angle

As we’re in our Winter Hiatus and these fine anglers saw fit to tell us of their triumphs, we thought we’d let you know about thier success right there….

The Channel Island federation of freshwater anglers have had a few highs and lows this year on the competition front. We took part in The World championships held on the Ostellato Canal in Italy back in September. The team of Greig Brown, Andrew Gray, Garry Crisp , Shaun Rankin , Eddie Read and Gary Mourant finished 31st out of the 36 competing nations. Individually was slightly better as Shaun Rankin had a very good first day finishing 2nd in section and in a good position for individual medal , unfortunately he was unable to repeat his first day performance and finished in 13th place this put him in48th place overall. Greig brown was top performer on the 2nd day finishing in 7th place unfortunately a bad first day score of 13th left him in 91st place overall.

We also took part in a summer festival in Brittany France. Fishing against the French national junior and senior teams as well as the top club teams in France. The team comprised of Mel Hales, Greig Brown, Carl waye and Gary Mourant . Eddie Read and Steve Billups took part in the individual competitions that followed. The team finished in 18th place out of 25 teams with our big fish tactics not working as well as expected. In the individual competitions Greig Brown and carl Waye both won their sections with Greig finishing in 7th place and carl waye in 10th overall.

The Channel Islands federation of Anglers would like to thank; Mercury distribution ,St Clement supplies and the Forum Bar for their continued support.
