Suzie Templeton?s Oscar-winning animated short film ?Peter and the Wolf? has been confirmed to be screened for a special gala event at ?Branchage – Jersey International Film Festival? taking place on the island from 25th to 28th September.
The award-winning film will be screened at The Jersey Opera House with a live musical accompaniment of Prokofiev?s classic soundtrack performed by the 17-piece Kings Chamber Orchestra headed by internationally renowned cellist, composer and honorary associate of the Royal Academy of Music, Jerseyman Gerard Le Feuvre. Gerard, a huge film fan was the winning composer in the island?s recent national anthem competition, and recently revealed that his winning entry contains musical references to the island?s wildlife.
Throughout this 30-minute animated masterpiece, Peter and the other characters in this magical fairytale are brought to life by amazingly realistic puppets with exaggerated human traits, using stop-frame model animation and digital technology.
Creative director of the festival Xanthe Hamilton said, ?When I saw this animation for the first time I was totally transfixed. The emotion is all in the expressions of the characters and with the Kings Chamber Orchestra accompanying the screening it?s sure to make it a very special and unmissable event ?
There will be a Friday matinee for school children which is kindly sponsored by The Phoenix Foundation and a gala screening with a classical concert on the Friday night for the grown ups.
