Jersey Cheshire Home is proud to have launched a ‘Pay it Forward’ initiative at its recently established Community Centre in Green Street, St Helier. The scheme which enables visitors to the Centre to either give or to receive a selection of drinks and meals via the Jersey Cheshire Home website, has been kick started by generous funding received from Jersey Freemasons and the St Helier Community Fund.
The ‘Pay it Forward’ initiative underlines the charity’s commitment to promoting a culture of compassion and generosity within the community. Whether it’s a simple gesture of buying a coffee for a stranger or treating someone to a nourishing meal, every contribution will help those in need.
Individuals who wish to give can visit the JCH Community Centre website and simply select from a range of drinks and hot and cold snacks to gift to a stranger; whilst those who wish to receive can privately redeem the gift by using the QR code displayed in the Community Centre or on the simple to use website.
Donna Abel CEO at Jersey Cheshire Home said “We’re really happy to launch our ‘pay it forward’ initiative. This is a discreet and dignified way of receiving help and support and by embracing this idea, individuals have the opportunity to make a real difference to the day to day lives of others.
“You never know what difficulties people are facing and there is a big increase in food poverty, so we are thrilled to be in a position to enable others to help.” Continuing she said, “The JCH Community Centre is more than just a café or meeting place, it is a cornerstone of community support and kindness; plus, every visit to the Centre also directly contributes to our charity’s mission of enhancing the lives of Islanders with
disabilities.”
