Durrell have announced that the successful bidder on the Gerald Durrell gorilla sculpture, created by the talented Kelly Stanford for the Go Wild Gorillas trail, has very kindly donated him back to Durrell!

Gerald will now have pride of place at Jersey Zoo, just beyond the entrance within the grounds This kind gesture ensures he will serve as a reminder of this summer’s colourful trail of gorillas and continue to make people smile for years to come. The zoo tell us they are extremely grateful to the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, for this very kind gesture.

CEO of Durrell, Dr Lesley Dickie said,”We were so thrilled when we heard that the Gerald Durrell gorilla was to be donated back to us and he is now proudly greeting visitors as they arrive at the zoo. We are so grateful to the very kind donor, who generously bid for this gorilla and then decided to return him to the zoo. He will be a lasting legacy to the magnificent Go Wild Gorillas trail that made people smile all summer.”
